Did my first partial this weekend - Dr Smurto's JSGA - after successfully brewing the kit version. Slightly modified the recipe as I had 1kg Munich LME lying around. Used BIAB method, 3kg grain in 15l pot. Everything went fine until I got stumped in determining how much hops to add to get target IBU.

J. Palmer's How to Brew has a "untilization vz boil gravity" chart which I find quite useful for extract brewing. How do I correct for temperature when I take a sample at lower than boil temperature for determining the gravity? Bit hesitant to pop the hydrometer into boiling wort....

Try this site Dave's converter- used it today to work out my pre and post boil gravities when I couldn't wait for the sample to cool (but you have to switch your temps from C to F)
