Hey guys,

I'm looking for 5kg of blackberry's for a mead recipe. It's 5kg blackberry's 5kg honey. I'll also make a baltic porter then i'll blend the two for a fruit beer. Anyway if anyone knows where I can get them fresh or tinned let me know. Im on the sunshine coast.
Cheers

not sure you'll get great efficiency out of them but apparently if you update the firmware on the playbook you get decent battery life.

on a more serious note maybe worth a trip to the rocklea markets on a saturday morning (public markets as opposed to trade ones) to stock up. Great place for a feed and coffee in the morning too. You'll get your honey there easily but not sure that 5kg of fresh blackberries will be easy in Brisbane, might need to go frozen.

Haha yeah oops don't think some phones would go down well in the mead! Thanks for the info anyway.

Not sure if you can get frozen blackberries in the shops but THIS place looks good even if a little expensive?
Have never used blackberries but have used frozen raspberries & frozen berry mixes in Wits with good effect.

Made a Blackberry wheat beer earlier this year. Actually picked the berries myself...around 1.5kg in 20L...took bloody ages!
Even with in a straight wheat beer they didn't add a huge amount of flavour...great colour, but subtle flavour. They might be a bit lost in a Porter though?

You will only get fresh blackberries in season, runs from January to March. To buy fresh berries is about $20/kg but you can easily pick them if you can find a good patch that hasn't been sprayed. It's a waste to put good blackberries in beer, much better eaten fresh or as jam. Blackberry wine is supposed to be good.

Its actually for a Melomol (fruit mead) then i'll mix with the porter to taste. It will end up being in the fruit beer category.

Thanks pete will look into it. If I start making the porter and Melomol now I should have it ready in winter.
