I started off with a Keg King Kegerator with the double font and then purchased the triple font with 1 extra flow control tap.

The first 2 taps that came with it were just normal taps.

Now that I've tried to put the new tap together I find that the barb on the back of the flow restrictor is much larger and there is no way that the normal beer line will fit on, even when submerged in boiling water.

I contacted KK and they told me to use a beer line with a 6mm ID instead of the normal 5. I'm still a sceptical that the 6mm with be big enough.

I have done the ring around a couple of LHBS in Brisbane north and nobody carries 6mm ID.

They are referring my to Andale.

Has anybody had any similar experiences or have any suggestions?

craft brewer have 6mm ID, it's usually for gas but it works for beer.

I have the celli taps with flow controllers and use 6mm line for all my taps.
6mm line is great for beer, especially with those taps

Also use it on my miracle box.
