Gday all.

recently acquired a perroni and great northern fonts. Both have lights in them but the wires have been cut when removed from wherever they were taken from. The perroni font says 12v on the wires so I’m wanting be able to wire it backup to plug in to the home 240v socket. Anyone be able to point me in the right direction where to get a plug that will work? Also, the great northern one works off a 6pk AA Battery pack but I’d like to do the same with that and be able to plug it in to the 240v so they can just stay on at all timesand Not have to worry about batteries. Any info would be awesome. Thanks

Agree with philrob, if you aren’t sure ask an expert.
Unless it’s a very old font, all the ones I have seen have had LED lights; some of the old LED's do really care about polarity and voltage, some of the newer ones not so much. The big bar equipment suppliers (Andale, Lancer) might be able to help you out with a power supply as they have them for the fonts they sell. Mind you most any power supply that has the right voltage should be OK if it’s got the amps to.
The low voltage side is pretty safe so an enclosed power supply like a ones for charging laptops and the like should work well.

Homegrown 12VDC work is fine. Are these incandescent or LED? If they're globes, can you see what wattages they are?

Just grab a 12V power pack with appropriate wattage (or overkill), and solder an inline socket on the cut wires on the font.

EDIT:

For the great northern one, do you have the battery pack? It is most likely that the 6x AAs are in series and it is 9V, but best to not make assumptions. Once you know the voltage pick an appropriate power supply.

Looks like they both need taking apart fully and new pipes etc. I'd just replace the lighting with some led's get them from jaycar and a transformer, one transformer to run both will be fine. Could even run them off rechargable batteries or 5 V usb. Mains power and water ( you could get a leak or condensation ) just not a good idea especially with all that metal.

You may find that there is a colour changing torch that you can hack as well.
