Guys,

I have had an issue with the black beer connector when I got a new keg.

First one got stuck on the out line - I ended up having to destroy it to get it off. Is the CO and beer outlets different sizes. The grey connector fits OK on both the in and out connectors on the keg. But if I try to connect the black beer connector to the out line - it won't fit on.

I possibly thought the both outlets may be slightly different sizes and the keg I have may have a gas outlet connected on the beer out side?

You could be right mate, it would pay to check that you actually have a Gas and a liquid post on your keg...you might find you actually have two gas posts as suggested.

The way to tell the difference is on the gas posts there is a groove in the base of the post...where you would put a spanner to take it off. The liquid posts do not have this groove.

If you have other kegs to compare with that would be good.

Just Remember "Grey, Gas, Groove".

Did you buy the keg from a HBS or from some random person? If a shopfront you should be able to get them to fix it for you for nix if it does have two gas fittings. Just a matter of swapping the posts over.

Post a pic if problems persist...

Cheers - I have another keg - I will compare.

I got it from Grain and Grape - could swap it but full of beer at present ?

If full of beer...then you could:

1. Transfer beer to another keg...then take keg to G&G to get post replaced
2. If you have a spare keg...take the beer post off that keg and put onto this one (you only need a spanner to do this)...then take the post to G&G to get replaced.

If they beer is carbonated you will have to bleed off the pressure in the keg first before you remove the post of course...unless you want to shower in beer.

If you don't want to do that you could always use a gas fitting for the beer out post instead of a beer fitting (so just use a grey one instead of a black one)....I don't think the mechanics of them are any different...just a slightly different size so that you don't use them the wrong way around. Then once the keg is empty then fix the post..personally I would fix the post 1st.
