im about to put down another brew im using morgans blue mountain larger 250g off dlme 250g off corn syrup and i was thinking off adding 750g off dextrose and im going to use the kit yeast has any one got any suggestions on anything i could add or anything i shouldnt add?

swap the dex and dme values and you have yourself a maltier beer.

Get yourself a good dry yeast like US05 and use that over the kit yeast and you are looking at something even better again. ;)

I agree.

I currently have pretty much the same brew in the fermentor at the moment. I wanted to try the BML tin as I've heard many rave reviews about it and in particular the yeast strain that comes with it. It's tasting good out of the fermentor and is down to 1028. Something interesting to note is that a Morgans Bitter I am fermenting in the exact fridge/temp is down to 1012 already. It's with the US05 yeast while the yeast with the BLM is fermenting alot slower. I am hoping this is because it's a lager sort of yeast and my yeast was fine when it was pitched.

does the weight off the yeast matter as the kit yeast is 6g and the us05 is 11.5g?

Yes. In a 20L-23L brew of gravity in the 1040-1050 range, 6g of dried yeast can be considered to be under-pitching. The 11.5g is a more appropriate quantity for a beer with the previously mentioned specs.
