One thing interesting to note is the hop profile is percieved to be 'harsher' when boiled at a higher pH level compared to a lower (wort pH).

Just reading through this thread again and wanted to get confirmation on the topics discussed.

So, if i boil 20grams of 5% AA hops (just an example) in 10L for 30 minutes will it contribute the same overall IBU as if i boiled the same weight in only 5L? (assuming both boiled in 1040SG liquid and both made up to 23L batches)

That is correct ivanhoe. Time is what matters though. Both would have to be boiled for 30 mins.
