So this is my 5th all grain brew. ive done a couple of tip out extracts also grrrr.
every brew i have done so far i have used US-05 and have been getting that awful green apple flavor coming through, The first few brews where fermented without a temp controlled fridge.
I have since gotten myself a fridge and a stc-1000 and have been fermenting them in there but still i was getting that dreadful apple flavor. So after a lot more research i came to the conclusion it wasnt so much the temp but more so the yeast was stressed and dying out. So this time i re-hydrated my yeast and well Holy @#$%.

I this recipe know its a bit off due to the amount of spec malts used V1.0 of this recipe. The only issue i was worried about was the temp in my garage its about 16.5- 17 down there. I brewed on Friday No chill, then pitched yeast Saturday evening and checked it today and now for the first time i have a 2 inch Krausen.
I plan on following Bribie G's post on fake lagering so 10 days in primary. rack and raise to 20c for a day then genatine cold crash for 10 more days.
Og was 1065 but after a 7lt sparge it dropped to target Og of 1055

Batch size of 10l
2Kg pale malt
200g Vienna
400g Crystal 100
250g Cara-Pils

11g Galaxy 60min
5g Galaxy 30min
5g Ella flamse out
12g Ella dry hop 7 days
12g Ella dry hop 4 days.
11g US-05

I brewed this on my Ghetto Brau V1 for the maiden brew. Had a few hiccups with malt pipe top screen but all in all worked bloody darn well. ran a stepped mash profile to mainly test out the system.
Mashed in at 40c
rest @ 52c 20min
rest @ 63c 20min
rest @ 73c 35min
M/O @ 78c 20min

Ghetto Rig Controlled by CraftbeerPi.
Base pot is a BigW 19L
Malt pipe BigW 7L
Top screen is a flour sieve i found at the home wares store fits snugly.
Element is a 1750W custom from Istra Engineering at Tarren Point.
And a keg king v2 mag pump

Your boil looks fine to me. Have you used Galaxy as a bitterer before ? Can be quite harsh. Sweet brew rig you've made there too.

Cheers beer God.
Na i havnt used Galaxy before. hopefully if wont be to bad!

That rig looks great. Excuse my ignorance, but having never used a Braumeister, I'm not sure what the sieve on the top of the malt pipe is for?

I've seen a Grainfather in action and they don't use one, so I'm curious.

Braumeister pumps wort into the bottom of the malt pipe under pressure and out the top. Opposite to the grainfather where wort is gravity fed from the top

Thanks, does that achieve better efficiency or other gains? Or is it just a choice that they've made for other design/manufacturing reasons?

not to sure to be honest. i did a bit of a comparison and i liked the way the braumeister worked more.

I think your boil looks just fine. Mine is probably a little quieter than that, depending on ambient temp, I think and that's never caused issues.

I really like your setup. :)

If you want to increase the strength of your boil, a cheap stainless steel mixing bowl, with a 150mm ish hole cut in the centre will keep a bit of extra heat in there, while still letting the steam out.

Like this one.

Boiling for 90 minutes is also a good idea, especially if your boil isn't so strong.
