I recently bought a thf 0 - 40 adloheat thermostat and have a question as it doesnt appear to be working or I am doing something incorrect. I have had it in my fridge for two days but nothing seems to be happening - in fact the temp has slowly risen!? I had it set at about 18 and the fridge has hang around the 20 degrees. It is a warm day here in Melb so I actually turned the thermo down to 15 (about three hours ago) but the internal fridge is now up at 23? I have now set it to five. I would have thought that if you turn it down low the fridge would come on?

The fridge is plugged in to the unit and the unit into the power - which is working as I have checked it. The coil that is attatched to the probe -should that be straightened out and most of it put in the fridge? The probe is hanging from the top of the fridge (inside) and is not touching anything.

When I plug the fridge directly in to the power point it works but plug it back into the adlo thermo and all is quiet. Being the internal temp of the fridge is 23 and the dial is set at 5 I would have thought the fridge would have turned on? Do you think I have a dud?

Help appreciated.

sounds like your thermostat is buggered.

Try turning the knob on the thermostat from one end to the other. Does the fridge kick in any any certain point?

from memory, arent there black & white adlo's - one for cooling & one for heating ... ? what colours yours merc & perhaps the product id# ?

cheers

mine is a white one. The black ones are for heating and the white for cooling.

Fan Control Model THF 0-40oC 10 Amp (brew/fridge use also)

I have it plugged into a small fisher and paykel fridge.

oh and no turning the dial from one point to another doesnt actually do anything.

Yes. Don't mean to be rude, but you have plugged the Adlo into the socket? If 1) the Adlo is plugged into the socket and the socket is turned on, 2) the fridge is plugged into the Adlo, 3) the fridge original internal thermostat is turned down to the coldest setting, 4) the metal probey thing on the end of the spiral wirey thing is inside the fridge, 5) the dial on the aAlo is at the coldest setting then if the fridge isnt running (and it does when plugged in directly) the Adlo is buggered.

I think she's porked Paul. What do you have in the fridge? My Observations: With a fermenter in the fridge Aldo set at 20deg and temp holding at 20deg If another fermenter is added with wort at say 28deg to bring down to pitching temp, then the fridge temp will drop to around 16deg. Naturally the Adlo is trying to bring the temp back to 20deg and the internal air temp is 16deg. After about 24 hrs the temp will stabilise at 20deg and all is COOL!

Okay, rang Adlo and they came out with another unit - Thanks guys - I connected it up as per requirements and nothing - didnt work. Unplugged everything and plugged my fridge in to the power and nothing - now it doesnt work!!!!

It was working before I plugged it into the new thermo. Could the thermo have shorted out the fridge? No sound no smell etc

I am currently brewing a Kolsch that is supposed to be going into the fridge tonight at 18 degrees but some how I dont think it will be.

Any one know a good fridge mechanic?

I dont mean to reply to my own post however I stand corrected - the fridge is working?!$%)!@*( I am fairly well confused by the whole thing! It wouldnt work when plugged in but after an hour it was working and had chilled the fridge down. I have now plugged the thermostat back in to the equation and have set it at 0 so theoretically the fridge should chill down over the next hour or so.

Maybe the only problem is my patience. Would love to hear from some one who is actually using one of these thermos :)

Assuming the fridge power lead and plug look intact, sounds a bit like the original fridge thermostat is buggered. If you or a brave friend were to pull the thermostat out and wire past it, if that caused the fridge to come on permanently it would work fine on the Adlo. If it is anything more complicated than that a cheap fridge might be the best option.

I am using one and have had no trouble with it.

The only thing I queried about them was where do you set the fridge thermo in the meantime?

General consensus was to have it at the highest it would go.

I set the fridge thermo to full plugged the fridge into the thermostat and away i went.
Works fine.

Not sure whats going on Merc. How old is the fridge you are using?

Is it possible you accidently hit the defrost button on the fridge when you were setting it up (if it has one) I know I did that on mine and had to wait till the defrost cycle finished before it would start back up.

Cheers

Where is the defrost button? I have a large button next to the fridge temp control which I thought was what turned the light on and off (light doesnt work though. Yes I pressed that button but if it for defrost I dont know.

Fridge is about 10 years old or so. Oh and when you set the fridge thermo to full do you mean as cold as it will go?

Plugged the thermo into my keg fridge which is a two door commercial fridge and it worked perfectly. What was different??? Different power outlet. So I plugged my other fridge that seemed not to be working into the power point with out the double adapter and presto it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Live and learn! :super:

Yardy - Screwy's fridge set-up then was back on 2005 and I would assume he has moved on into the digital age. I had two of the adlos for heating and cooling but they were analogue with temp settings on a dial. Whilst they did the job in the early days the Fridgemate Temp Controllers with digital readout are all over them these days, do both jobs (heating and cooling) and are heaps cheaper.

Cheers, Hoges.

Thanks Hoges,

Is there any wiring/installation to be done or is it plug and play ?
