I'm looking to build a multi tap draught box for special occasions.

Im thinking a 45L Polyethelene Icekool icebox from evakool ($130) with a pair of kegking cold plates ($150 each). Just Chinese taps will do ($25 each) and maybe $50 worth of other fittings.

If I stack two cold plates on top of each other will they still work effectively? I would have to spend a lot more on an Icebox that will hold two of them side by side, or use a lower quality, but larger one.

Anyone built something like this before?

They will still work stacking on top, but will work far better with as much surface area in contact with the ice. How about racking them on their long edge?

Yeah that would work. Probably better as you could have both sides of each unit in contact with ice.
