thats why they call you LethalCorpse lol!

I'm lead to believe that LethalCorpse is one of the more respected members of the forum qualified to comment (not necessarily advise) on matters regarding electricity. Yes we have problems with a few members speaking as though they have authority on some matters & I haven't seen lethal's sparky ticket, but he often gives the best advice out there, "If in doubt, get someone qualified to install, connect or at least check & test your equipment before using." I'm yet to see your logical explanation of why the aluminium socket should not be used as a nut. Is it because;

1) Possible leakage of the seal could provide a conductive path to the kettle;

2) Possible overtightening of the socket could strip threads, causing the element to come loose & expose a mains cable to liquid, again creating a conductive path to the kettle?

If other, please specify.

If the element is installed correctly & the kettle is earthed, the above problems should never be problems provided that a RCD is installed in the circuit & is operating correctly.

Please, if you disagree with someone, provide a clear explaination of WHY. We're not in year 2 guys.
