2013 Sodium Perc / Met BB - Melbourne

Afternoon all. With the little bub crapping over everything and the wife with access to my treasured Perc Supply, it's time to re-stock. 3 parts sodium perc + 1 part Sodium met make a backyard PBW, if you are interested in making near to exact PBW, have a search through my old BB's, Wolfy posted the relevant information back then. Personally I find the simple mix ample to clean my brewing gear.

As with my previous BB's for this gear, Perc to be split between participants, purchases to be whole bags to ensure that we get the numbers correct. Met I would suggest can easily be split 4-5 ways. Ive still got loads of Met from the BB a few years ago. *The supplier again will be Hucon in Bayswater 9720 4744*

Looking at perhaps a Early to Mid October supply date, lets put a tentative 12-19 October on it for Collection, working backwards from that, all payments to be CLEARED by Friday 4th October and working further back still, Orders close 30 September.

Prices are as follows. (Melbourne ONLY, no postage sorry)

Sodium Percarbonate

$1.43/kg + GST = $1.58/kg x 25kg = $39.50 per 25kg bag

Sodium Met

$1.11/kg + GST = $1.22/kg x 25kg = $30.50 per 25kg bag

What is the difference between using 100% sod perc & the PBW? What does the sod met do that's so important?

Yep, happy to split the Perc with you, as to the exact reactions, Im not 100% sure but it cleans 'more' or beterrer than Perc by itself, I predominantly use it when cleaning the HEX unit so that it 'scours' the inside of the HEX coil.

Worth pointing out to anyone reading that sodium met in this instance is sodium metasilicate NOT sodium metabisulphite.

Will check the stocks but think I still have loads from your bb about 2 years ago.

Ooh yes - I want some of this action. So a 1/2 bag of Perc plus 1/4 bag of Met(asilicate) will make me about 18kg of magic powder, which should see me into the next lifetime (if I don't turn into even more of a clean freak).
