I'm a clog wog and speak Dutch, so I have no difficulty with Hoegaarden and Westvleteren.

The others can pêche off.

I think I've heard one non-Dutch speaker in my life pronounce "Westvleteren" correctly. I think it's the "v" in the middle of the word that throws people off.

Yes apparently it got that name the same way suasages got that name here in Aus.

G'day Bribie. Knowing the fondness our Welsh friends have for impossibly pronounceable place names, I was sure I could find one of their beers and go open no-trumps on you all. But the best I could find was Cwrw Gorslas (which I'm guessing is pron. Carew Gorluss).

Since you have a lot of knowledge of the ol' country, I'm sure you'd know a few.

y is also a vowel pronounced "uh" or "ee" depending on the context.

So you can get words that look like they have no vowels, for example the little village of Ynysybwl.

Another one is where, as a visitor to a pub, you are invited to join them in an ancient loyal toast.

Everyone including the pommy visitor raises glasses and chant solemnly "Twll dîn pob Sais" which means "All English are Arseholes".
