Mash / Lauter Tun Set Up

My mash tun is an insulated hot water urn. It is also my lauter tun. I have a coil of tubing under the lid with holes in it that sparges my grain. The hot sparge water is gravity fed from a modified plastic fermenter barrel with an installed kettle heating element that heats up the water. This...

    Using An Urn

I use a 30 ltr urn as a mash tun. I have mashed up to 7kgs of grain in it. Works a treat & cost me nothing. I have insulated it with bed roll foam so temp fluctuation isn't a prob. Found a flat 30cm Dia SS strainer at woolworths for $5.00. Some quick modifications and it has made a perfect false...

    Stuck Brew And "dry Enzyme"

Just a quick note. You can always stop fermentation early if you want to. I quite often do this for ciders. If you want a drink with more residual sugars (sweeter) just get it to the gravity your happy with (a simple taste test), then chill it, filter it then carb it up. Sweet, Dry or Draght...

    Spraying My Beer Fridge

Hey wally Found some of this flooring in my garage of my rental property. Cost me nothing except some glue. Comes in 190mm wide panels X 1.5 mtr lengths. Just cut it to size with the old jig saw. I am thinking of staining it maybe mahogony, (something darker). I think you can by it from ikea...

    Morgans Chairmans Selection Cortes Cervesa

It could do without the citris flavour addition IMO. Based on your gravity it doesn't sound like it has finished fermenting. I wouldn't touch it untill it gets down to at least 1.010. The smell you are experiencing is probably the lager yeast. This is normal.
