    Home-grown Hops: Digging And Dividing

Great pics. It's good to dispell the myth that a rhizome needs to be a whole crown of plant like asparagus. Hops are a lot like spuds. As long as there is at least 2 sets of buds on the root stem and at least 10 cms long, it should take off no worries. Here are a couple of greats pics from...

    Moster Mill Setup

I would look at putting in a canvas skirt shute that would about line the edge of the bin. That would definitely keep all the grain dropping clean through and would really minimise dust clouds.

    Kabooby's Sour Cider

No worries! BTW I don't use a juicer, I use a "scratter" (old term for machine to pound hell out of the apples and turn them to mush), and mine is a garden shredder to turn it all into porridge looking pulp. Then I use a basket press (lined with shade cloth) that I made by hand similar to...

    Kabooby's Sour Cider

So what you have there Kabooby, is Kentish Style Cider. Traditionally they used very little if any cider apples as they preferred the clean crisp (and eye fluttering) taste from "eaters and cookers" without the rich nuttiness of West Country cider. It is in fact what Aussies are used to - our...

    Rice Malt Syrup From Coles?

I think it would be well worth the experiment in anything from from a Brown Ale upwards. I thing it would be very interesting in a wee heavy, or strong Old Ale. Interesting thing about palm sugar is that, well, it doesn't taste as sweet as you think it would is comparison to other reduced sugar...

    Chilli! All Things Chillies.

I feel your pain brother! That routinely happens to me. After 15 years+ of growing and processing chillis you'd think I'd learn. Observational point - Rocotos seem to give the WORST "hunan hand". Damn near have to dangle your junk in a ice bath! Now, Hab burn on the other hand, I dont mind...

    Tonic Water

Interesting site http://www.jeffreymorgenthaler.com/2008/ho...wn-tonic-water/ In a nutshell the recipe is; 4 cups water 1 cup chopped lemongrass (roughly one large stalk) cup powdered cinchona bark zest and juice of 1 orange zest and juice of 1 lemon zest and juice of 1 lime 1 tsp whole...

    The Last Of The Fritz

And the reason it is called "Bung" Fritz, is because the natural casing as shown above, is literally a inside out cows rectum commonly referred to as bungs (hence the term bung-hole!). All the bulbous smallgoods are made filled into bungs of pig or cows. Seems a bit off, but really - no...

    Chilli Sausages

G'day Paul, Mate, to be honest I just posted the rec as original to be safe. I'm like you in that I am a seriously anti-additive sort of bloke, so I dont use any preservatives per se other than salt and lactic cultures (black magic that stuff is!). Lets be real, outside of salt, and especially...
