    What the.......

I did a double batch that has been kegged for about 2 weeks. One keg turned pale at the end, photographed is the last beer from that keg. Is is supposed to be an amber ale like the glass from the other keg. I suspect that one cube did not have the starsan emptied out and has a higher gravity...

    Starsan foam

I don't want to start a new thread unnecessarily so here goes... I did a double batch today and forgot to empty about 1 litre of Starsan (mixed at 1.8ml/l) from one of my fermenters. I know the foam is not an issue, but should I worry. I did a test test on the wort and could not tell the...

Not A False Bottom Or Braid, But Works Better Than Both

THe braid is too slow and prone to stick THe false bottom lets in to much muck This works just right. A SS strainer tied to a base to keep the muck out Cheers KOS

Will 2 19lit Kegs Fit Here

    RecipeDB - Sauvin Lager

I've done a few of these lagers all 100% NS. When I no chill I treat the cube as a 10min addition and add the final hops to a litre of boiling water for a few minutes before adding to the fermenter (once all done and at 1C). Never an infection and great aroma, the addition looks like green...

    Craftbrewer Fwk

I agree. I've only just put down my first brews for the year. Till now I have been busy doing flood repairs so I have been buying fwk's from Craftbrewer all year. I buy in bulk and my average brew costs about $32 (including $5 for LPG) and thats using dry yeast. I put a brew down yesterday...

Yeast Nutrient For Yeast And Brewers

Its pretty well known that Australian soils are deficient in trace elements, especially zinc, and so the same can be said for our food. So its hardly a surprise that yeast nutrient (at least the stuff supplied from Craftbrewer) contains zinc. Its also pretty well known that the efficacy rate...

    Useing Gelatine With Chilling?

I am about to add gelatine to drop the yeast in a brew, but given that I also chill filter at 1C for 3 days I'm asking if its necessary, isn't the idea of chilling to clear and drop everything to the bottom? Thanks KOS

    Double Batch Split Boil

I've just sampled the first from my last double batch using cubes etc, not up to scratch. The flood apart from all the other damage it caused to the lower level of my house meant it only had two days of controlled fermentation at 18C. I've forgotten how these things tasted before purchasing...
