Saison season is here. What's your best recipe?

Try to aim for around 1.040.

Saison season is here. What's your best recipe?

85% Pills 15% Wheat Mash @62c EKG to around 20IBUs Bell Saison @ 25c Simple and DELICIOUS!!! I brew this every summer and it never fails to impress. Bell Saison is a monster too, FG usually sits around 1.004, so dry and thirst quenching.

    Grain storage

Temp and oxygen will play a big role in the shelf life, especially if its pre milled. I store mine in bulk (un milled) in those big plastic trunks you can buy from bunnings or camping stores, they aren't the cheapest option but they seal and are hard wearing.

    400lt hot/mash/boil

100% we need a brewery here. So many times have I considered it, just gotta grow a pair and do it! (then try to dodge the wifes bullets)

    Upgrading to 40amp

I was the same, however too many times I neglected to check my bottle before starting the boil... and... well... you get the idea. soooooo..... I went electric and I love it! no more running out of gas. It was fun to build too.

    Brewing Parter Wanted

Looks like Bucket Brewery in Kempsey NSW have done the same thing, a couple of blokes kicked it off in their garage, they even have a canning machine jammed in there!

    Brewing Parter Wanted

Very nice set up indeed, however Yob has sparked my curiosity regarding laws/approvals etc around producing commercially from home? anyone have an insight?

    Upgrading to 40amp

Fair enough, I have 2 5500W elements but like "the electric brewery" I only run one at a time.

    Upgrading to 40amp

Man if i had 3 phase at my place my life would be complete... Its currently my biggest hurdle preventing me from doing something stupid (like buying a brau 200l)...

    400lt hot/mash/boil

Was considering a Brau 200l, but for less than half the price and twice the Vol, this is tempting... Would just need to buy the trimmings to go with it.

    Upgrading to 40amp

40A is some serious juice man. I put in a 32A circuit in my shed for the brew rig and am only drawing 25A max at any one point. What gear you running?

Is my little brown pump... THE little brown pump?

Thats the one mate, they come 12v and easy/safe to wire up yourself. I just used an old 12v power supply i had lying around.

    Calibrating Mashmaster Dial Thermometer

I feel your pain Yob, I too had the same problem with my mashmaster dial thermometer. I ended up buying a quality digital thermometer and checked it at boiling and it was spot on 100, so then used that against the dial thermometer to calibrate at 65. The mashmaster seems pretty acurate right...

Fox Den Brewing - Electric Control Panel Build

Awesome, Thanks. I do like the 'fluff' and if im going to build it, I may aswell include all the fluffy bits that i will probably want in the future anyway... The only thing I may omit would be the third PID for the BK, I like boiling with gas rather than elec. Cheers!
