    Keeping Fermenter Fridge Cool?

You do need to mount them in a box... cutting the hole for the controller is the worst job I think. One of those little Dremel tools makes short work out of that. Cheers

    When To Lager?

As you own a cafe/restaurant, why not do all your brewing there? You've got all the facilities. All you need is a bed, so you won't have to go home and leave the brew unattended :D That way, all the electricity, hot water etc is tax deductible. Food for thought. Cheers

Is A Mash Without Temp Pockets Actually Better?

I'm new to AG brewing. I've got a U-beaut fully insulated esky for my mash tun with home made manifold and bits and pieces. I try to maintain a uniform temperature during the mash and sparge. To me, a few degrees either way won't bother me. Gotta be better than a bland K&K. For those who...

    A Few Issues..

I guess if a bag is big enough to allow the hops to do it's job, it's OK. But if the bag is too small, the hops will end up like a potato dumpling in a bag. The outside cooked by the boiling water and the inside cooked by the heat. The hops swells and takes up the room in the small bag. The...

Kegerator Setup - Carbination & Balancing

When I first got my kegerator, I did a fair bit of reading about about connections. The guy at the LHBS told me I should have 2 metres of beer line. Some suggest about 4 metres. My 2nd kegerator came with two 1 metre hoses with fittings...1 for each tap. Once I carbonate the beer, it pours...

    Chemical Flavour In Brew?

After you drain the keg and stand it upright again, use a blunt nail or something similar to push the pin down on the outlet connection. You will see some liquid building up at the bottom of the keg. The tube may have had some of the bleach mix in it. I usually pump a small amount of...

    Using Excess Beer After Kegging

Hi Drew, Are you from England? If I was forced to drink a pint of warm flat beer, I'd follow through with a technicolor yawn :icon_vomit: Xmas cheers

    Using Excess Beer After Kegging

What a top idea. I'll reserve one of my cornys for my own 'mongrel' beer. Xmas cheers

    Blending Beers In Kegs

Why not just pour 1/2 glass of the sweet stuff and fill the glass with another beer. Cheers

Coopers Yeast Reculturing Using No Malt

Hi, Thanks for the info. Just for curiosity I'll contact Coopers and suss out the yeasts they use in their commercial beer. My understanding was Coopers supplied premium yeasts to the home brewer as they use in their commercial beer. Being a reputable brewery, I'm sure they wouldn't supply...

Coopers Yeast Reculturing Using No Malt

Is there any advantage using this method to get yeast for a brew over just buying a sachet of Coopers yeast? Seems a lot more costly. Cheers

Brew In A Bag And Equipment Questions

G'day BreathingHeat It looks like you're pretty well set up with your gear. Ever thought of trading in that grain bag for a decent esky with a tap. Then make a copper manifold for it. No more lifting heavy bags of wet grain. No more draining/squeezing the bag to get all the goodness out...

    Brew Beers Resolution '11

There are 2 runners-up. 1. Decide on ingredients to make a great beer I will enjoy. 2. The way to make it. And the winner is.... A 'SPEIDEL BRAUMEISTER' Brewing System. Xmas Cheers

    My Wort Chiller

G'day Hatchy, Actually that was the reason I bought 3 rolls. 1 for the chiller, 1 for the pre chiller and 1 for kitchen/bathroom renos. I'll see how it goes without the pre chiller. I'm using tank water that sits in the shade all day so maybe it'll be cool enough. If not, i'll give the...

    My Wort Chiller

Thanks TP. It took me long enough to get this far. An extra set of hands would have made the job easier. I'll just give it a test run as is. After all, it doesn't have to be too pretty. As long as it gets the job done. But first I'll give it a boil in water to clean off the ink and other...

    My Wort Chiller

Quite a few brewers suggest cooling the wort quickly after the boil. So I decided to have a go at making my own wort chiller. I had 3 rolls of 1/2'' copper pipe that I bought at Bunnings a few months ago for $50 each. After watching a video on YouTube, I thought anyone could do it. So, I...

    Which Kegerator

I think that most of the kegerators are made in the one factory in China. The importers 'slap' their logo stickers on them and sell to the public. I bought a 2 keg unit nearly 2 years ago as the 3 keg unit was almost double in price. 3 months later the 3 kegger was the same price as what I...

    Fully Automated Brewing System

I don't need any convincing or justification to get one. It's a hobby to me also. If I can see an item to make my hobby more pleasurable, I'll get it. I'm not a rocket scientist trying to understand all the mumbo jumbo about all there is to know about brewing beer. Some of the words used...

    Fully Automated Brewing System

Hi, I have been reading, with great interest, the input from all about the Speidel Braumeister system. I have been brewing the basic K&K for nearly 2 years with the odd Extract brew and a BIAB and now want a change. When I first saw the 3V system, I knew I had to have one. After a while, the...
