Commercial Brewers Really Have No Idea

Hi All, It seems that some of our commercial breweries are really as silly as we thought: http://www.shootersandfishers.org.au/blog/...r-beer-now.aspx

    Using Oxygen

Somethings to keep in mind when using oxygen and "an oxy gauge lying about". I do a bit of gas blending here and there and it scares me some of the gear that I have seen people use for O2. Oxygen is refered to as the "princess of gases" as if you treat it right it can do wonderful things for...

    Murphy Is Alive And Well

Flaming typical. Over the past couple of weeks I have had a Celtic Red Ale in the pot, using Safale S-04. Being winter, it struggled along at 16deg C and finally finished. So I proceeded to put a Double Choc Stout (with extra Choc grain) and as the previous brew struggled to get over 16deg I...

How Long Before Carbonation - Discuss

Hi All Due to one thing and another I have a brew which is finished and still in the fermenter (or is that fermentor?). I don't have access to CO2 until Wednesday or Thursday (it is now Sunday). I know what I am going to do BUT here is the question which sprung to mind. Which is Better and...

    Hunter Beer Company

Had a few beers there before heading out to a day on the green. I really enjoyed talking to the brew staff and had a quick look around the brewery. Ended up bringing home a couple of magnums of bock. At christmas it was a bit of a hit, not for the beer per se (although me & the missus do like...

    Beer Masons

I must say I like this bit: The Golden Rules As a BeerMason thou shalt: Appreciate different styles, flavours, colours and textures and share your experience and knowledge with those around you. Remember, someone, somewhere put their heart and soul into creating your beer and deserves your...

    Fresh Wort Kit

Spidey, Although Dave's is a great shop, Mark at Asquith Homebrew (Pacific Hwy Asquith) also stocks a heap of Brewers Selection. Might save an hour or so (to and from Newie) as you would probably drive straight past Asquith! Rabz

    Fresh Wort Kit

Just don't do what I did with the 5 Malt Amber.... I stuck the wort in the fermenter, topped it up with some water, checked the OG and Temp then pitched the yeast. All sounds good, except being the dill I am I topped it to 23 litres, not ~18. At least I now have a reasonable light beer on...
