    Nsw Amateur Brewing Competition

Fair enough, life's too short... I hope you did well in the comp and that you are happy when you receive your certificates etc. We put the effort in for what it's worth and I think those who did well at this comp should be very happy with their results. They earned them. Definitely enough...

    Nsw Amateur Brewing Competition

Your last line says it all Dave. The effort put into this comp is obviously misunderstood by you guys. Every panel of judges had at least one bjcp certified judge. This isn't easy to achieve. Feedback was long and detailed for each entrant. No judges were asked to judge inappropriate...

    Murray's Angryman Ale

Thanks guys. Haven't posted this much on AHB in years! Funny you should ask about Wild Thing. We've brewed 3 different Imperial Stouts including Wild Thing in the last month. All 3 are due for release in early July and all 3 in bottle and draught. Too much stout is never enough! 9.6, 10, and...

    Murray's Angryman Ale

The Nirvana Pale ale changed a couple of times during its life but underwent a major change just over 18 months or so ago. It went from 4.5%abv to 5%, we dropped the crystal malt from the grain bill completely, upped the overall IBU, significantly increased (50% more) the late/whirlpool...

    Murray's Angryman Ale

G'day All, First up, apologies for the carbonation problems we have had with a couple of batches bottled late December early January. The beer was fine at release but the prob developed in the bottle quite rapidly once out to market. We have bottled some beer offsite and it was the first few...

    Murray's Imperious And Punk Monk

Haven't spent this much time on AHB in ages! Good to be back... Thanks again for the positives fellas. Always a big compliment as well from you Barry. Not many around that can match your trophy cabinet! Glad to hear you liked the beer. Growler fills are always dependent on the quality of the...

    Murray's Imperious And Punk Monk

It is because they are great hops! We can use any we feel like and may well use hops from other countries if we want a particular flavour/aroma in a beer at some point in the future but the Kiwi hops just really do it for me I'm afraid. Maybe it is almost a fetish but we aren't quite that bad...

    Murray's Imperious And Punk Monk

Glad to hear you enjoyed the beers and thanks for the feedback guys. For what it is worth we only use Kiwi hops at Murray's, (sorry Mark! :P ) and the Imperious and Punk Monk were no exception. The US hops are also great - hell, all hops are great - and I'm a big Citra fan especially. Sierra...

    Murray's Nirvana Pale Ale

G'day Jimmy, Thanks for the interest. You guys aren't too far off the mark. I can't give away percentages etc, but think kiwi cascade and pacifica and lots of it late. British and German malts (no carapils...) and British yeast. Don't mash or ferment too cool and you should get something like...

    Murray's Endless Summer

Thanks for the feedback on the 'Endless Summer' guys. I was really happy with the end result. We were toying with the idea of a summer ale and thought it would be fun to do something a little different to the standard lighter APA or wheat beer interpretations. 7.1%ABV is a bit on the big side...

A New Brew Club In The Hunter Valley

Wasn't originally planning on dinner but you talked me into it... Count me in! I generally don't get out of work till closer to 6pm and am coming straight from work which is near Nelson Bay so I might be a bit late. I'll try and get away as quick as I can though. Don't want to miss the fun...

A New Brew Club In The Hunter Valley

Yes there is, but it is time we expanded to a bigger and better, truly hunter-wide club. We've got the local micro's, the locoal HBS's and a load of other key supporters already committed and behind it. All we need now is for the local homebrewers to stand up and organise and run it to their...

    Brewers Market Festival

G'day fellas, Thanks to Gerard for organising this. I have been without computer access at work for a little while so apologies for missing threads/emails to those who have tried to contact me. I'll be bringing either a keg of Icon 2IPA or Grand Cru, and one of our other beers, maybe the...
