Hi there.

I am wanting to brew a dark ale that uses Wyeast 1968 London ESB.

I don't have this yeast, but have many others on hand, and would like some advice as to which one to use instead.

Wyeast 1084 - Irish ale
Wyeast 1026 - British cask
Wyeast 1028 - London ale
Wyeast 1187 - Ringwood ale

Which one would you recommend as the best out of this lot?

Thanks

Phil

6 of one, half a dozen of the other...
fwiw, I would go with 1026. But I'm sure you'll get 3 differing opinions.

I've never used 1187, but I have used the (supposed) white labs equivalent WLP005 British Ale. This is a stunning yeast; probably the best British strain I've ever used.

What about the sample of 1469 i gave you.......?

If you can use 1469, go for it...I'm hooked on this yeast ATM.

Otherwise I'm quite a fan of 1028, if it's fermented warmer (20-22).
