I'm about to salvage some Budvar yeast cake off a Boh Pils. However I only have Wey premium pilsner and Barrett Burston Pale at the moment.

Has anyone successfully brewed other styles with the Budvar?

I was thinking along the lines of a Pale Continental Lager - Austrian style, with maize adjunct and Magnum / Hersbrucker.

Not really a crazy, "out there" step - from a Boh Pils to a Pale Lager, is it?

I'd imagine you'd be fine.

I would have preferred to use Wyeast Danish, but that's tied up in a fermentation happening in a keg with shortened dip tube so I can't get to it.

Well, let's throw caution to the winds

Budejovice used to be in the Austro Hungarian Empire anyway.

I have made many very successful Czech pilsners using Barrett Burston Pale and budvar 2000.

BB you say. .

This I shall try tomorrow and ferment in my SS BrewBucket.

Cheers

Live dangerously, Bribie, just go for it. I'm sure you'll be fine.
You will have the better of me in this year's comp, I'm only entering one beer in an anonymous style not to be announced on AHB until I get the Champion Brewer Award.

2000 is a great yeast, great in just about any style of lager I reckon! 2001 and 2278 are great too.
