Hey Guys,

just starting up my yeast farm and I'm looking for some screw top test tubes or sample vials to store the yeast in.
Something similar to this is what I'm after (just don't need 50 of them): http://www.proscitech.com/cataloguex/onlin...p?page=l10#l689

Let me know what you have, located in Melbourne's west and am happy to pick up.

I reckon you'd fill up 50 pretty quickly. If made 5 slants of a particular strain, that would enable you to have 10 strains on the go at any one time. Or keep a few spare for clumsy fingers etc ;)

Also, if you haven't already seen the thread ( http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/inde...showtopic=28134 ) try Sully on his contact for this Bulk Buy.

Theyre quite enourmous. Do you plan to make slants etc? Or just store slurry? If so, at 240ml those are way too big, you're better off with something 10-30ml. Most people on here use the LP9025 UL PP from http://www.proscitech.com/cataloguex/online.asp?page=l9 - pity theyre discontinued now. They still have the unlabelled polycarb ones which I'd opt for now if I was buying all over again - much easier to see what's going on in there than PP. And yeah, you use 50 very quickly if you're making slants etc.

Thanks guys,

Just looking at storing slurry, so I'm looking at containers of roughly 50mL capacity

The mob I got the TT for the BB only had bags of 1000, I think they only have in 5000 now. there was another BB started after the original 2 but I dont think it eventuated.

Hi there,

I looked into getting a third bulk buy going but it was going to work out quite a bit more expensive than previous bulk buys. Some of the distributors still had qty's of 1000 but most of them had a minimum qty of 5000 and the guys with 1000 seemed to be charging a premium for the smaller volume. The one's I was looking at were 12.5ml PP flat bottomed tubes (P9716UU) made by TechnoPlas (catalog
here) and available from their distributors (listed here).

sap.

Is anyone willing to sell some of the origional stock of their bulk buy.

I only need a few (say 10) and am happy a decient amout for them.?

I picked up 98 LSC vials from the father inlaw.
They are 20ml and appear to be glass. The lids are some kind of plastic with what appears to be a metal inner and the 'style' marked on the side of the box is 'L486'. Bit vague I know, but it's all I got.
Anywho, all I know about LSC (Liquid Scintillation Counter) vials I've learnt from searching the net for the last 15mins and I still know jack!!
So I thought I'd run it bye the learned folk here; anyone know if I shouldn't / couldn't use these vials for my own yeast farming??

These are what I use for slanting, and it is a bummer that they're discontinued.

I'll have to order the polycarbonate ones.

Looks like the polycarbonate ones are gone now as well.

RIP LP9025
