Ok, so in a couple of weeks I may be finding myself in Brisbane for 3 days. So, whilst the wife is at work, I'll be mooching around looking for some good drinking places....any recommendations? Only real criteria is that the place must sell decent beer, being a place where they sweep up eyeballs after closing is a rudimentary second.

Anyone like to open the bidding?

The Scratch at Milton
Hideaway, Kerbside or the Yardbird in the Valley
Bittersuite in New Farm
Superwhatnot in the city
Archive in West End

One of them should sort you out.

Putting together a CraftBrew pub crawl so just ripped this out of the email! ::D:

Speaking of which, are any of these places takeaway?

I'd like to drop in and grab a few decent brews and then drink them at home when I have the time. Surely there has to be somewhere that has a really good selection.

thanks guys, I live in Brissy and have not been to most of these places, time to get some points up with SWMBO!!!

Not sure about take away but I know Archive will fill your Growler (certain days I think).

More info at Good Places To Drink In Brisbane.

Archive have a bottleshop that you can buy take-aways from (not sure if it's open every day). Bacchus/Craftbrewer is worth a look in too if you can get out to Capalaba - at least 27 taps and you can buy 5L take-away mini-kegs :icon_drunk:

Cheers,
tallie

Edit: There's also a fairly recent round-up at http://www.brewsnews.com.au/2012/01/brisba...d-tour-of-beer/, although there's some even newer venues that have opened up since.

Excellent!

Thanks for that info!

the Archive is a great bar. I was in Brisbane last weekend and was blown away by the range of beers. there is nothing even close in Tassie. the walk-in cool room is great and they do growlers. what more could you want. oh yeah the food is good too.

****** shame nectar couldnt remain profitable after they opened their bottleshop though. Archive doesnt even come close to nectar's range and he was a great guy. Miss the place.

You missed Underbelly and Vroom ;)
**** I haven't been to the Burrow!

You are kidding yourself.

Get to Archive bottleshop and have a look at the range before you make such comments....

+1.
I remember when nectar was still open I found myself walking out empty handed more than once to across the road to get fresh takeaways. The wall of beer looked cool but you have to question a beer that's been sitting warm on a shelf for **** knows how long.

Yeah I used to like archive but one of the sexy bar staff left... So I no longer go.
