Food grade lined material = safe!

I would also be checking your grain bed depth for such a large tun, you would be wanting a reasonable grain bed depth.

For smaller batches your grain bed may be too shallow. Good find though.

It's only 50L guys, it's not the usual big ones.

Those things are very well insulated.

But is it Stainless? and 60 litres?

Same mob

It also has a drain and might be easier to set up with a false bottom.

They have those at Bunnings, probably $400 there though..

The S.S. one would be great for a corny keg as a portable cooler for parties..

I'm pretty new to this but I thought 50L was a good size for a single batch mashtun?

Yeah I saw the SS one, very nice for kegs but the non-insulated lid puts me off it as a mashie.

+1
wack a celli tap on it and it'd cool as.

Anyone know if a corny definitely fits in that SS one?

You could replace the top with a nice thick round bit of wood and it'd be good to put your drinks on too!

In fact it looks like the perfect setup really!

Doesn't Pokolbinguy have a tun made from one of the stainless drinks servers?

Edit: See here

Richy - Yes, I have a 50L which is good for single or double batches. I thought you may have been eying off the larger one, which may have had an effect on your grain bed depth. ;)

yes yes I do. I bought mine through ebay. from memory was about $100-130 delivered. They are normally $200+ at bigw or bunnings.

Looks the goods......but unfortunatley still haven't got to mash in it.

I have the grain all ready to go...just waiting for some time off work to do my 1st (yes my 1st) AG.....damn winery vintage work .... crazy hours and crazy days.....fingers crossed for this w/e or the following.

Pok

I use a 70 litre one as my mashtun.
I have a Brewbelly falsie in it (I got Wayne to make me a bigger than standard one).
It works really well, holds the temp really well.

I wouldn't go any bigger than the 70 litre one though. As lifting it to then empty at the end of the sparge when it has 14 kg of grain, + 14+kg of water + the weight of the esky = heavy.

Beers,
Doc

Damn! Assuming you have the 19L pepsi ones with the rubber top and bottom?
