Im actually about to bottle a weizen today. Unfortunatly it's a double batch that's in my big fermenter, so i cant transfere it to a smaller fermenter for bulk priming.
What would be the lesser of the two evils, stir in the suger (rousing the yeast) or use my sugar scoop? Im looking to carb it up to 3.5 Volumes. Would the sugar scoop get me in that ballpark?

can you transfer it into 2 smaller vessels then wash fermenter then back into the fermenter for bulk priming?

Thanks 3G. I might go with the sugar scoop and Dextrose as its a lot less work. Hopefully that should get me around 3.5 Volume.

Damian,

If you haven't bottled yet, I suggest an alternative, that I have used myself in the past.
This only works if you have a separate bottling bucket/fermentor.

Transfer beer off the yeast to the bottling bucket and add (either before or after racking) some sugar dissolved in boiled water to bulk prime the amount of beer added. Bottle up and repeat the process.

2-batch bottling. A simple option.
You can make a note to try this next time, if you've already bottled.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Les the Weizguy, great idea. I ended up chilling it to about 5C and stired the solution in. Ill be having a Hefe i guess.

I measured a few scoops out with my sugar scoop, and if my calculations are correct (not likely) they give a carb of 2.1 Volume.
