Dear beerlovers,

Maybe some of you already know us but for those who dontwere a Belgian beerclub and our purpose is to taste each month several beers we have never tasted before. We also gives the beers a quotation.

Till now we have tasted more than 100 beers. Maybe that dont seem much for most people who visit this site but anywayyou can always take a look at our complete beerlist at www.clubsjarel.com

And who knows, maybe youll find some beers that YOU have never tasted before!
On top of our list stands maybe not surprisingly the westvleteren 12 (from which we have more than 70 bottles in stock), the Westmalle tripel and.Duvel which may be a surprise for most of you, but not for us because Duvel is a very popular beer in Belgium.

Anywaylet us know what you think about our list and be free to leave a message on our guestbook.

Cheers,

Thanks Guys,

I'm a subscriber to the CSi Newsletter and look forward to it each month. Must have been nice visiting a Michellin Star Restaurant, like to get my hands on a Carolas Emperor's Cuvee of any vintage.
Cheers

I am lucky enough, extremely so, to have tasted that particular beer Screwtop. I was visiting a friend in the US and a friend of their's was a beer nut. Upon talking with me he immediately started pulling down bottles off his aging shelf, including one of those, not sure of the exact vintage.

It was the best beer I have tasted anywhere including my visits to Belgium, time in the UK etc.

Just an amazing complex beer that kep throwing something new at you every mouthful, and I don't consider myself to have the best palate in the world by any means.

Sorry to ramble but I am reminiscing a little here...

I really want some westvleteren 12

For the Melbournites:
was down in Williamstown the other day, wandered into a 'fine wines' bottleshop on ferguson st and was presented with the best range of Belgian beers ive seen in the flesh.

Sigh, yet another challenge

100 beers is peanuts, especially for an entire club!

These are just the ones i have had form the bottle at home. havent counted but about 200 since i started collecting abotu 2.5 years ago. there are many i tried in belgiuma nd around the world that i couldnt bring back and heaps on tap.

do my eyes decieve me Ash, or are all the lids still on.....?

(what's your address again?)

poured, enjoyed, cleaned, re-sealed... the little wine cellar in the bottom left of the pic has the full ones :D

That's a fantastic collection Ash.
You've inspired me to start one of my own - of full ones that is, I already keep the empty bottles in my brewery. I have some of the large bottles from Achouffe and of course Westmalle + other Belgiums.
I need to start keeping some full ones so that when I have friends over that appreciate beer I can serve them instead of wine, and also serve my home brewed Belgiums as well (almost goes without saying).
Problem is that it is almost impossible to restock these in Aus and now it is difficult to travel with liquids from the UK/Europe and the US.
Impressive collection Ash.

Now I feel like an alco! I've got notes on over 2500 beers now from the last few years. Still, some of the sample sizes of them were quite low (ie 50-100ml) whereas I presume the club is drinking full bottles or similar?

2500 makes me look like a VB drinker!

if you are going to store them ful, it would be worth finding a way to store them at about 15 degrees so they age gracefull yb ut dont go bad. I use a wine fidge that cost me $150 but a normal fridge with a decent thermostat (eg mashmaster) would do a better job.

Got me to thinking this morning, 100 beers - thats not that many.
Spent about 5 minutes doing a quick tally, limit scope to Australian beers. My mind started to dry up just short of 90, could no doubt find another 10 to reach 3 figures if I took my time.

If I was to list the imports I've poured into my glass, even in the last year alone I reckon i'd lose half a day of work

Hello guys,

In our club we have officially tasted 100 beers but ofcourse all the members seperately have tasted a lot more. Anyway, it doesn't matter...the main thing is to have a lot of fun while tasting great (and not so great) beers.

By the way...do you know that there is in Brussels a bar which has 2000 beers to offer!!! It's amazing!!!

So if someone of you guys should ever come to Belgium, you can contact us....

Cheers

In my opinion Delerium has gone the way of the tourist bar. They are no longer stocking a good vintage collection, and many of the better beers they claim to have are never in stock.

Since its publication in Frommers, Lonely Planet etc it has been full of drunk American frat kids. The second last time I was there a girl was throwing up at the front door.

Brussels has much better establishments such as Bier Circus and Chez Moeder Lambic.

Yeah, maybe you're right...the delirium caf has become very touristic but still....(and even if they don't have all the beers from the list in stock)...the choice is very big.

And you're also right about those other places (concerning brussels) but you don't always have to be in a big city like Brussels and Gent. Even smaller towns and villages have their cafs offering a lot of (local) beers.

Cheers,

CSi Belgium
