Hi guys,

Not for brewing, so in the OT area, but its the kind of thing brewers will know about - so I'll post!

I've installed a greywater diverter system at home given the current water restrictions, but I am having airlock issues in the lines due to multiple lines joining in a kind of weird way. To try and solve the problem, I'm chasing a 200L or so plastic drum. I have found new ones for around $100, but given it is for greywater, I figure a second hand one would be fine.

It needs to be in OK condition, and a lid would be good (I have one already in the shed, but it is very deformed, lidless, and doesn't hold water!)

The kind of thing I'm after is this:

Any suggestions?

I'm in Brisbane (well, ipswich)

Not being in your area, I don't know precisely the details of a supplier, but here are some suggestions based on what I have seen around in my area.

Horsey feed suppliers. They often have drums for sale, or details of a local supplier.

Large gardening suppliers. People often use the large drums for compost bins.

Rural/farm suppliers. They often have second hand drums for cutting up for stock feeders.

Also check out the Trading Post, where often suppliers of second hand drums are listed.

I bought a couple from a local farm field day for $30 each for second hand 180 litre drums. Food grade with clip on lids, ideal for storing bags of grain. A drum takes 2 of the 25kg bags of grain.

All the best with your recycling project.

Again, not in your area, but I got a 220L plastic drum second hand on the weekend. $15 from a flea market at the main fruit and veggie market in Sydney. It is an old olive container but it should scrub up nicely with some napisan. Going to be using it for grain storage. Good condition really, with lid, airtight. Maybe worth a look at markets.

Thanks for the suggestions - ended up finding a place that specialise in second hand drums - www.drumpack.com - the guy was great and $30 later I had a drum. All working now, so my grass will either go green or die :D
