Mine had the diptube removed when i aqcuired it. There is an amount of thread tape visible on the top of the bottle.
When in use I squeeze the handle and put the locking pin through so it remains squeezed/on. This picture shows the handle in the up/off position.

I like having the fire extinguisher trigger, it means no fear that a leak will empty me of all my gas. Anytime I feel the carb of the beer is dropping I just squeeze the trigger for a couple of secs.
I agree .. I do this too.
I'm sure it's saved me a few times with leaks in the system.
Better to have a keg degas than have a keg degas AND lose a full CO2 bottle.
Do you have adjustable taps?

I give the kegs a burst ... throttle the taps off and pour .. as the keg pressure drops I slowly open up the tap (this can take as many as 5 or 6 pints when the keg is getting low so have a higher gas to beer ratio).. when the keg stops pouring .. I give it another burst.. and throttle the tap back again... works perfectly for me.

Safety wise it's vital your extinguisher is secure (in which ever position) as a dropped & broken extinguisher quickly becomes a rocket spewing out gas cold enough to burn fingers an skin off
speaking from experience??? got photos of the incident?? :)))

No one in my area wanted to remove the dip tube, so I'm going to just get some RHS and weld up a stand that should put the nozzle at around knee height :)

Mine came with a wall bracket to hang it on. I stood it on it upside down and made a loop from a bit of steel roof strapping to hold it - pics to come when I get home.

michael_aussie are you running a CO2 bottle without a regulator?
I have read carefully through the thread and thats what sounds like to me.

I've used extinguishers for nearly a year now.

2. Sometimes I had lots of frosting on the top of the extinguisher and around the regulator. Once again I assume this isn't good.

nah i think he's got the reg on there

Yes, but if there was a regulator in there, the pressure wouldnt be going up in bursts sort of the point of a regulator.
My reading of the posts is that he has connected the extinguisher to the kegs and just squirting in a bit of CO2 at need.
I would like this clarified!

The valve of the extinguisher is spring loaded to close.
Therefore unless you actually jam the valve open, as soon as you let the handle go it closes.

This does allow you to shoot bursts of CO2 out of the extinguisher - through the regulator - into your system.

I would never suggest it is safe to use any sort of CO2 bottle WITHOUT a regulator.

I hope that clears things up.

Anybody?
............ And the gate vales mentioned above, where from? and how much?
Also, How much would you expect to pay for a full, out of test extinguisher 4kg to 6kg?
