5 % crystal is too much - drop to around 2% and use black malt (probably 1/2%) to get the colour right.

Bass ALWAYS use black malt to get the colour right in the info I have.

Speaking to Simon - they use UK 2 Row for thier beers. Bass brewed more beer in the UK in the 80's & 90's than the whole Australian DOmestic MArket put together - so they use a variety of types from GP, Halcyon, MO etc etc etc.

Low nitrogen malts with good conversion is the way to go.
