Maybe a silly question, but Ill ask anyway. When filling the fermenter, its quite easy to get yeast and trub on the inside top of the fermenter, above the wort level. Does this leave any risk of infection given there is air in the fermenter to begin with?

Cheers,

Foles.

As long as your sanitation is up to scratch there should never be a problem. My fermenters often get splashed around when carrying them to the fermenter fridge. I have never had an issue with it.

Cheers
Gavo.

I agree with Gavo,

As long as cleaning AND sanitation is up to scratch and fermentation kicks off as soon as yeastily possble. You will be as safe as churches!

Although you would normally add the yeast after filling the fermenter.
Otherwise having the worst splashed around would be fine as stated above.

Remember the yeast krausen is probably going to froth up over there anyway.
The fermenter will look even worse once it has finished fermenting...
