hey guys just tossing up a schwartz bier on the weekend.
basically ive taken the isb schwarz recipe from a few years ago and worked it in to what ingredients i have so what are the thoughts on this version bear in mind that ive never like a big and roasty schwartz. and im trying to use the marris that i have instead of pilsner malt which i dont have enough of.

Barls,
do you want any pilsner malt?
I don't have any maris otter but still have plenty of pilsner.

Bjorn

bjorn ive got pilsner malt im just trying to use up the other first. might have to bite the bullet and use the pils that i bought for smoking or i can just change what im brewing.

Could always go half MO, half pilsner, best of both worlds?

that could work fenten. ill see what i end up brewing, might just redo my barley wine again or attempt something else

Personally I find MO really works terrible in a lager, flavourwise. I don't think it would help a schwarzbier much either. Regular cheapo ale/pale malt would be OK, pils is obviously first preference. Munich too to some extent.

what about half light munich and pils

Might put it closer to munich dunkel territory IMO if you're using half munich 2 as per your original recipe, but with munich 1 I think it would work out pretty well.

thats what i was thinking, its not like i brew to style most times anyway.
so it looks like ill go
