I can't fight it any longer... Time to dip my toe in the Electric BIAB Wort!

Been doing kits for some time with grains and feel it may actually be easier to lose the extract and go All Grain :beerbang:

Expecting my 40L Crown from Ross to arrive tomorrow
Dropping a bit cooler here in the Blue Mountains so need to get some insulation!

Read lots on yoga/camping mats etc...

Can anyone recommend a good insulator?
I have an old sleeping bag but don't think it will cut it without backup!

LOL! Extremely close to Glenbrook!
So can I leave the mat on whilst heating to strike temp?
Can I secure it over the sight glass or do I need to whip out the stanley?

Glenbrook! Not as close to the clouds as you!
Are there any homebrew clubs out this way?

Not as such in the Mountains. There are a few of up further up who keep in touch.
There is a club around the Penrith/ St Mary's area.
Do you know of Pat Casey at Absolute Homebrew in St Marys?

i have used one of the windscreen doohickies as well as a yoga mat and have found that the mash doesnt drop more than 1.5 degrees over a 90 min mash.

Hey D!CKO,

welcome aboard, good to see more mountain brewers, the closest club to us is western sydney brewers here.
Great bunch of guys and they regularly meet every month, the last meeting was at penrith, which are the ones i can make it to, i had a great time.
Maybe we should start up a mountain division or something. I have been thinking of having another brewday so ill keep you and Punkal posted when i do.

cheers matho

Would be good to catch up for a brew day.
Lots of stuff to learn and I think leeching the knowledge of experienced brewers is the key!
