I use mine for overnight mashes. Just bring to strike temp then add grains, then run your normal mash steps. Mash out at 76 degrees for the next 4 mash steps at 120 mins each.
When you wake up you are ready to boil. Ive only done it a couple of times now, but it is quite common practice with a lot of BM owners.

Hey Marksy,
So prior top a few days ago I hadn't wired up the 220v AC side of my control box, the 12v DC supply I mentioned was an external power adaptor that I plugged into the arduino board just to see if I had soldered the parts and new screen in properly - and had no issues with the temperature value displaying correctly.
When I wired up the 220v AC within the enclosure and powered the shield using the 12v power supply in the box I got the temp display issue, it hadn't happened before, which leads me to think that its caused by interference from the 220v wiring inside the box.
I thought that maybe earthing the shielding around the temp probe cable might help?

Try this one, disconnect the board from the main supply and power it like you did before with the laptop supply but keep that mains supply on. See if it interference from the mains supply, it it still does it then move the board away and see then.

Let us know.

Ok, so I had some PCBs made up and am almost finished my controller build. I am looking to use ardbir and the bramiser 2.1 shield.

The pcb has been completely soldered and I wired up a 12v power supply and I'm getting nothing at all when turned on.

The arduino is working as it responds through power cable when not attached to pcb. I have checked with a multi meter that the connections are working between power in and power to arduino (vd1) and there is connection. I have also checked the power supply and it's reading a solid 12v

What I have noticed is that nothing seems to be linked with the power supply in, ground (screw terminal), is this wrong?

See below some pics of my board, can anyone please let me know if they have had similar problems or if I am missing an easy step.

I don't think so, I have tried that, the green "on" light on the arduino isn't even coming on.

Oh my god. Well I could have sworn I adjusted the pot and nothing before. But for whatever reason now the buzzer and LCD are working. Apologies and thank you. Just need to reverse the transistors for the buzzer now.

Edit: stopped working again, found the problem, it's a faulty ground solder on my power supply in screw connector. Sorted, woo.

Hi Lael

Are you only planning a one off run. I am not sure if i am going to go with a DIY build yet and if i do it wont be for a little while. But i dont know if i want to miss out if it is a one off run.

mmcenall

Just cleaned up the list a little.

mmcenall - so basically - it's a lot of effort and doing a batch all at once is the only way to do it. If there are a lot of people interested in a second large batch, then possibly. However, I have no idea on timeframe for it or if it would happen. So... if you want one, put your name down and get one while they're hot. :) Plus... 70 is your lucky number ;)

Hey lael,

I may have a friend who would be interested in the kit. Could you point me towards a parts list of what is included and an estimated cost?

Cheers,

Alex

Hey Marksy,

I was having some dramas uploading the new Open Ardbir software to my board so ended up reloading the original Mathos program, so when I tried your suggestion the issue with the extra Celcius symbol had disappeared. So I'm not sure if it was the software refresh that fixed the issue or if the interference from the wiring sorted itself out.
Thanks for your suggestion though, I hadn't thought to try that extra step.

Cheers,

Brendan.
