The three things I HATE about homebrewing...

  1. Constant cleaning of every bloody thing - Seems like 90% of my time brewing is spent cleaning
  2. Milling grain - Yeah I know I should have passed on the Marga but 1hr to crush 11kg of grain is riddiculous
  3. Wild Yeast Infections - Trust me I am over it!

Chappo's constant whinging....

:p

Things I love about my hobby of homebrewing:

1. Cleaning. Gives me something to do. Do it as you finish with each piece of equipment, and it's OK.
2. Milling. 5 kg in 5 to 6 minutes isn't that bad now, is it? Love my MillMaster.
3. Infections. Haven't had one since I sourced the reason one of my brews gushed all over Ross's bar in April last year.
4. Drinking great beers, and knowing I designed them all myself, and brewed them from scratch.

Not got to the point where I hate anything except beer not working out.

I grind everything by hand with a corona, boil twice due to size limitations and use a sink for chilling and temp control. I also bottle everything.

Still love it, despite sometimes procrastinating cleaning the bottles. I won't suggest my brewdays and bottling days are without their frustrations but it's better than a poke in the bum with a old cricket bat.

1 - Cleaning. If you actually like this step you are probably a serial killer.
2 - Masses of equipment creating clutter and being expensive.
3 - Always wanting more expensive more cluttering equipment.
4 - The little voice in the back of your mind reminding you that if you really looked at total cost of ownership, I mean REALLY looked at it, you would have probably been able to just buy cartons of the best beer you could think of for the same price. I'd still pick home brew anyway but I do laugh whenever people grossly understate the price of equipment here and at the same time whenever they sell equipment second hand want 95% of the price they paid + postage.

The wait.

Oh god the wait.

*really needs another fermenter, or two, or three...*

5 - The one piece of equipment I REALLY need is a nice big laundry tub. I have one of those small crappy modern ones and it's basically worthless for home brew cleaning up etc. So this ties in with he cleaning being annoying part.

Not really hate, but things that irk me
1. Spending good coin on a 20L robinox pot when a few weeks later Big W had the $20 pots on the shelves
2. Due to 1. now having to split boil the batches as I haven't got a 50L pot
3. Not having the time to set aside to do more brewing :(

EDIT:

Andrew I'll be up there for sure :icon_cheers: maybe with Henno's beers (maybe?). I suppose I better bring Henno's beers as i can't stand the constant whinging and whining he sounds like my 4yr old bitchin' on.

One thing, and only one thing: Going to a restaurant and not wanting to drink any of the beers on their menu cause the stuff at home is 10x better.

so really its a drug habit is what we are saying

we love the high, but hate the after affect, hate purchasing from some dealers, dont have enough $ to support the habit. always want more.

1. Lack of space. Damn worst thing about living in a townhouse.
2. Being a tooltard - would have built a decent 3 vessel herms/rims by now.
3. Liver not being strong enough to consume as much as i want :p

1. Cleaning
2. Not timing my brews so I have back-up when a keg runs out
3. Guests emptying my keg and then leaving Carlton Midstrength in my fridge.
