i dunno about offcuts but I got some stainless mesh from this dude on ebay if it helps.

You can usually find "frying pan spatter guards" at the Reject Shop for a couple of dollars, they're made from S/S mesh and I've made a mash filter from them.

For small pieces I have used this:

It would be about 150mm square, cheap, stainless and very fine.

thanks guys. I am after termimesh cause it is a heavier guage wire than the fat splatter guards. I want it to make like a false bottom over my braid so the braid doesn't get compacted when i move to a recirculating system.
