Hi all
Is there anyone out there familiar with the Tapadraft system.
I Bottled my first batch of brew left it to mature about 2 weeks.
Primed the Papadraft with two co2 bulbs and let it sit for three days as per instructions.
Only to find that when I get half way through the bottle it drops in pressure and becomes really flat.
There are no leaks and when first primed the bottle became very hard now when I tough it it is very flexible.
Im very dissapointed as it wasnt that cheap to buy hey.
Any ideas??
Big B

All [ can tell you is I sold a couple of hundred dollars worth of Tappadraft gear for $70, and was glad to see the back of it.
Besides carb problems with the Co2 chargers usually only half doing the job, the chargers are too expensive to be wasting all the time.
How much prime sugar did you use per 6 litre bottle when you originally bottled the beer?
There`s threads on Tappadraft here somewhere if you can find them on "search", one`s called "tappaboom" when a 6l. bottle exploded in some poor b....`s fridge. :(
He posted a pic. of it, funny, but not for him.

stagga.

I had exactly the same problems with my Tapadraft system. You get half way through the bottle and no carbonation. Sorry Big B, but it's good to know that i'm not the only one who's had troubles with it.

I see you're from the Gold Coast...you didn't buy it from the Homebrew Shop in Parkwood did you? The guy there tried to convince me it was something i was doing wrong. Suffice to say I no longer frequent that particular HBS. Tapadaft is absolute junk!

By the way, anyone wanna buy a Tapadraft system?

hey,
what do you want for the tap-a-draft system?

Been considering trying it for myself a while but can't really justify the cost to myself in case they are as bad as I been reading.

Be happy to take it off your hands if not to expensive, though ;)

thanks
Bjorn

Unfortunately i don't have any bottles left, just the tap section, and i doubt it's in very good condition (i haven't actually looked at it for while). I'll have a look at it tonight when i get home from work and let you know tomorrow what sort of condition it's in. Honestly though, even a cheap Tapadraft is not really worth it. You'll just end up with flat lifeless beer half the time.

I also no longer frequent that particular HBS. Owned by a ******** artist.

Just buy a dedicated keg setup. Either that, or make one out of a garden sprayer as detailed on here somewhere.

Cheers - boingk

If it's that crap and you only just bought it, you should be able to return it to the manufacturer for a refund seeing as how it doesn't do what it claims to do.

Ah yes, I agree.........but if you`d ever dealt with this particular hbs owner..... well, I`ll say no more
An intended conversation/arguement planned for 5 minutes runs into hours.

That's why I suggested manufacturer as it sounds like it's a common problem and maybe a fault in the equipment.

Said HBS owner sounds like the kind of twonk best avoided.

yeah------------------ wish I could find that thread "tapaboom" with the pic of the 6l. bottle that exploded in that blokes fridge. I`m thinking now maybe it was on the Northern Brewer board.

Used a TAD for a couple of years. Managed to put quite a few brews through it. Most took 2 x CO2 bulbs to dispense a full 6Lt bottle. I also reused 5Lt mini-kegs with a special adapter bought from the U.S. It was a way of me getting draft beer poured from the fridge with the limited space I had at the time.

Apart from the 2 x gas bulbs per bottle/mini-keg I have no real gripes. Always got a decent pour and head. It was easy to tell when the CO2 bulb needed replacing as the pour slowed right down - BUT never had a flat beer! I primed and left the containers 2 to 4 weeks prior to refrigerating and serving.

As stated prior - it was a good solution for me at the time because I had limited space.

John.

Hey bristow
His name was John and italian and a full noise ******** artist by the sounds of it.
I am going to take it back to him and shove it fair up his little tight italian ass.
I will give him one opportunity to give me my money back and with some ammo from some of the people on here I will take him to consumers affairs fair trading and he will not like me at all.
Your thoughts.
