Surly bender clone

I am going to give this a go I am just going on what I have read and from the specs on the beer, has anyone tried this beer.The hop schedule is the only grey area they say its hoppy but as I haven't tried this beer its a bit hard.The grain bill looks sensational.Here's what I have.


64% ale
16% aromatic
6% special b
6% oats
6% med crystal
2% choc

Hops, Willamette columbus

English yeast

aim for 45 ibus
5.5 abv
srm 45
Let me no what you think

i have had this beer (and a number of others from surly - cool packaging and great beers). from memory was it not oat malt rather than oats?

i made a clone attempt of their "furious" IPA. here is that recipe if youre interested too

1068, 100IBU

41.5% bairds perle
41.5% bairds GP
9% bairds medium crystal
8% bairds aromatic

40g simcoe 60'
20g simcoe 20'
50g ahtanum 10'
50g amarillo 5'
lots and lots of amarillo, ahtanum and simcoe to dryhop

wyeast 1335

Cheers I will look at the oats in the recipe I think it is malted.They seem to love the aromatic.
