When is the best time to step up a liquid yeast starter, before or after its fermented out?

G'day Evo. I generally do it just after high krausen or when it's finished. I use a mag stir plate so it's fairly easy to work out when it hits high krausen. The main thing is don't do it before high krausen. Also step up using a 10 to 1 ratio. ie, 1000 ml of fresh wort to 100 ml fresh slurry. Works a treat. :D
