Doing BIAB and getting a little over using my (somewhat scratched up) plastic Coopers spoon or bunnings slightly tarnish/rusty looking paint masher for mashing in..

What do others use?

A plastic boat-oar from a camping store. Several years old.

Food-grade - no.

Do I RDWAHAHB - yes!

bread board and broomstick improvised paddle.

$ 5.00 potatoe masher from Woolies, rake the mash and pump the masher up and down every 5 minutes, job done.

Hmmm timely.

Commercial big arsed whisk.

Bout 15 bucks and soooo sweet.

Saved my scratched up coopers spoon from busting up, mighty close, I could see the look or relief in its.....ermmm......spoony bit when it saw the whisk and the amazing job it does.

I just use a big ol' slotted spoon, the sort that you might use for scooping pasta or something otherwise. Does the trick mostly, though it's a bit weak in the heavier mashes. Anything large and vaguely paddle like will do.

None, I Underlet...

SWMBO did get me a lovely mash paddle made up though, never used it, it'd got the brewery name carved into it, great paddle.

I use a giant commercial potato masher from a hospitality supplies
I think it was about $13

Paddle... Oh, for mashing in. Righto.

Usually use a big ol' nicked up placky spoon. I *have* carved myself a nice wooden mash paddle but haven't had the need or the heart to get it dirty yet.

Might get around to adding something to the handle to provide a better grip one day.
Probably not though, 'cos that would involve remembering to do it well before I need to use it.
