I have nearly the same shandy with breakfast every xmas morning - family tradition - Pint of Guiness & Champagne (black velvet) Mmmmmmm :chug:

Or in the evening, some "black pussy" = Guiness & port...

...is a drink once quite popular in New Zealand, a mixture of stout and lemonade or stout and a dash of raspberry.

Pumpy.

I think if you add the dash of raspberry you have to start batting with the other team. ;)

Pumpy,Ross, & warren63,

Never tried the Guinness shandy (Portergaff) or the Guinness with champagne or even the fabulously named "Black Pussy" but will give them a go at the earliest opportunity.

Pete Ross and Warren and other poor lost brewing souls ,

I thought I would verify Rosses claim to the ingredients of 'Black Pussy' by entering those words into Google 'this was my first big mistake, the second was to go and fetch a beer .

Just spent the last half an hour explaining to certain family members why I had entered a search to bring up all manner of scary Porn sites

I don't mind shandies as long as the lemonade is replaced with cider. Can't beat an ice cold snake bite on a hot summers day. Ross, I thought a Black Velvet was Guiness and Cider mix? I suppose depends on where in England you are from. We couldnt afford champagne in Lancashire :D

No shandies here.

A pack of Viscount 10's and a longneck each when i was 10-11...er I mean 17-18.

Always drank beer with a dash of Sars in the 60s/early 70s. Bit girly I suppose but a great summer drink. For winter we used to have a real mans drink - Open a stubbie, drink it down to the top of the label then top up with Green Ginger Wine. Does anyone remember that mix?

Almost forgot you Screwtop :)
I've had the Stone's Green Ginger Wine in my youth but not the way you have described. I am still partial to a beer with a dash of sars on a hot day.

I love stones and beer! and stones straight for those winter nights!

Actually you guys have inspired me might go buy a bottle of stones for christmas day!

go the stones-mac, it's got an extra ooomph ;)

i used to drink rasberry cordial in my beer when i moved to ADL. didn't like the taste of draught and the red stuff sent me off like a rocket
before i'd drink home made coopers stout or cider mixed with stout
it lasted for about 12 months and near the end i was downing 750mls of rasberry cordial a night. the dayshift barmaid could tell how much of a night i'd had before from the cordial levels she had to replace the next morning.

i'm over that and found grain :)

Big D,
Does it taste like shandy?
Would be ok if it did, I guess?
:chug:

Stones Green Ginger Wine with lemondae used to be an old student drink (when I was a student) because it was cheap.
That and Purple Death (basically Blackberry Nip) with lemonade.
Ah the memories of being a pour Uni student :p
