Is it possible to purchase new pressure releif valves to suit the following (see pic). I'm assuming the keg is a standard corny.

Cheers Pok.

I'm fairly certain that Grain and Grape have them. May be worth giving them a call.

Good luck with it.

It looks to me like that lid has been modified to accept a 2-piece spartanburg/firestone pressure release valve. They are plastic and attach via a plastic backing nut.

Like this one: http://morebeer.com/product.html?product_id=18217

More beer lists them as out of stock but maybe someone in Australia stocks them too. You could try Craig Deacon at www.kegs.com.au (I think). They are a little pricey (I need one too as one of mine leaks so let me know if you find one and the price of them).

Another option of course is just a new lid. Most of those old Rheem or Mytton kegs that I have seen have had an inbuild pressure release valve attached to the body of the keg and not in the lid, like the posts, ie welded to the keg (or threaded on at least). I actually haven't seen a racetrack lid that had a pressure release valve in it but then I haven't seen everything ;)

Thanks guys I'll check out "G&G". and report back when everything is soughted.

Cheers, Pok

Still on the GG website at $11.95 for corny kegs. :D

Beauty. I'll give the guys a call next time I place an order and check to make sure it's the right one and tack that on the order.

Just found the US-56 and T-58 yeast at my local HBS so quitely stoked about that, which also means I don't need anything from G+G for a while. In no rush though.

Thanks.

CraftBrewer have the standard corny relief valves for $8.90.

Cheers

Ross..totally affiliated... :)

Good work Ross - any chance of a pic though? And can you get hold of any other types?

I've got about 15 different types of valves on my kegs, and most of them are buggered.

Actually I'll take some pics and see if the collective wisdom here can't help identify some of them.

I'll be back

Send me the pics by email & I'll see what I can source for ya... :)

I thought I had a problem with a relief valve recently and bought a replacement in NZ

The original problem has disapeared for some reason, bad seating I guess, but the replacement leaks like a seive. It's a black plastic top, not the hard grey material (is it metal ?) that the other ones are

Has anyone come across the black plastic topped ones before - had any problems ?

I'm in the digital dark ages PZ :(

Just imagine a relief valve with a black top, not a grey one

Thought it may have been a common problem, cheap bits of plastic etc etc

I sold off all of my kegs that had pressure relief valves and replaced them with kegs without pressure relief valve. Made a nice profit too.

just block the pressure relief valve up as you dont need it
