Because I'm an idiot, I put the wrong beer tube in a keg - so now I have a full keg with a tube that is slightly too short, and an empty keg with a tube that is too long.

I'd like to fill the other keg, but I'd have to take out the post to remove the tube and replace it with the correct one.

Is this possible to do with a (mostly) full & carbed keg?

I don't want to do it if it will risk messing up the beer with oxygen or whatever...

I would release the pressure from the keg and release pressure from the lid. There should be enough co2 sitting above the beer to protect it. In ant even change the posts over, secure lid, purge keg, back it fridge on gas at serving pressure. If you are going to drink this fairly soon any oxygen ( purged out anyway) will have no effect.

What grott said.

If you feel like going to the effort, you *could* connect your CO2 to a beer disconnect and purge the post before installing it.. but it's probably not worth the effort

I've had to do this when I've had a blocked out post. As above burp the keg until there's no pressure and remove the out tube. Replace with sanitised correct out tube and repressurise and you should be good to go.

Definitely take the keg outside first. If you're like me you will probably do something stupid and there will be beer everywhere. You'll swear never to make that mistake again, and again.

Pour a beer 1st to ensure the post is working.....

Pour a beer after to ensure you got it right

Pour a beer to then celebrate your success in this challenging task !!

repeat the process for the 2 nd keg .....

Sorry to let you chaps know but laxation enquired about this 2 weeks ago and hasn't responded to advise so can only assume he fixed the issue, stuffed it up or carried on regardless.

I actually only did it a few days ago. It went OK, but the keg I put the new post in is now a bit foamy. Not sure why... the new keg is all good.

thanks for your help!

Might have warmed up a bit. Warm, carbed beer tends to be foamy as it will be out of equilibrium. Is it still like that after letting it chill down again?

yeah was cold... nearing the end of the keg, but it isn't THAT low. Still a few L left in it.
