Hi ;
Got a mate coming over tomorrow to see how I brew. Can't think of any recipes that I would like to try at the moment for I have one brew to be bottled and one still fermenting which is DR Smurtos' Golden Ale. So I just made one off the top and here it is.

3.5 kg Marris Otter
1.00 kg Wheat Malt
250 gm Carapils
250 gm Caramalt

Mash @ 65 C 1hr in 13 lt of water. Heat to 75 C mash out and sparge etc etc.

22gm Super Pride boil 1hr
30gm EKG boil 20 min
30gn EKG boil 5 min

I have heaps of super pride and EKG so that is why I am using these hops

Wyeast 1056 2lt starter

Comments welcome

Cheers (BB) :icon_chickcheers:

Drop the Carapils, you won't need it for foam with the wheat and the caramalt will add plenty of body.
Looks ok otherwise.

What you are going to end up with (depending on the yeast) is a sort of Coopers Pale Ale. I would personally do about 25g of the Superpride for the full length of the boil and use the EKG for another brew. I'm currently slurping a glass of a Classic Aus Lager made with Pilsener Malt and 20g of Superpride only and it's a nice crisp drop about VB bitterness.
Maybe you could cultivate up some Coopers yeast out of a couple of Sparkling tallies and then it would be the picture.

Actually go with AQ and ditch the carapils. And a do as Bribie said ditch the EKG. But instead go cluster for flavour and aroma hops . Use the S05 and hey presto! XXXX Bitter clone but with flavour! 2c :icon_cheers: Happy brewing

I like Chappo' idea here, the best of both worlds, and Cluster is awesome as flavor and aroma.

C'mon Chappo who in the world that lives south of the border would actually contemplate drinking barbwire. Besides that I have Super Pride , EKG and Saaz, so I thought I would make something with what I had . :icon_cheers:

Yes master I might change it up a bit. I did that with your last suggestion .Thought I would try and use up some hops. :icon_drool2:

POR and Saaz (euro ones not NZ) to well together and I bet Superpride and Saaz would go even better, I think that's what Cascade use in their Premium Lager ?? So how about 20 of Superpride and 20 of Saaz for 15 minutes. What yeast were you going to use? US-05 would be the go for a "fake" lager and knock it out in half the time of a genuine lager :icon_chickcheers:

Geezus no one said you were a mexican FFS! AndrewQld can you delete that last post! No friggin mexican is getting our secret nectar recipe. Ungrateful sods! Thankfully your all completely clueless to what you are missing out on. :icon_cheers:

Well you never said anything about the Saaz. What type of saaz? Eurotrash or SheepShaggerz?

If it's shaggers go Saaz instead of cluster IMO.

Edit: Prince of Darkness has beat me.

Do you really want a bland Aussie Ale that you can purchase a cheap carton of anytime you want it - Load up with the EKG, you wont regret it :icon_cheers:

Cheers Ross

But don't send a bottle to Butters  or if you do lock up your kittens :icon_cheers:

Edit: I was stung into action by Chappo's suggestion of Cluster, surprisingly I have never used it so I decided to pop my Cluster cherry and just added a shrink of it to my order I just put in with Ross. Now with Ross's suggestion to use the Superpride as a bittering hop and load it with EKG you would end up with quite a nice UK modern golden summer ale IMHO. and use a Wyeast like 1768 or Whitbread.

+1 even dry hop with EKG.

Thanks Chappo I was up your way a few weeks ago and tried the xxxx cause me mate up there bought a slab home so I tried it until the can got warm !! :icon_vomit:
I like the cut of your jib Bribie and Ross I have got a 2lt starter of Wyeast 1056 going, I spose I could break out the Coopers culture and get that going , thanks guys for all your input I will update the recipe and post it .

Thanks to all who have posted on this topic.

1.00kg Wheat Malt
250 gm Caramalt

22g Super Pride @ 60 min
