I am taking the family down to the Rocks Sydney on Saturday or Sunday and was wondering if there is any must see/drink at pubs to visit for lunch. Keeping in mind I will have a 8 and a 5 year old. Was hoping to find a nice pub with a good bistro type lunch meanu and a vast selection of fine amber ales and Lagers to sample.
I think we will check out the Rocks markets and the observatory. I sthere any other must see sights in walking distance from Circular Quay?

I would suggest them either The Australian for a pizza and a good range of beer, or The Lowenbrau for some sausage.

Mmmmm :beerbang:

The Australian Hotel has good pizzas ($15ish) and a great tap selection (scharers lager & burragorang bock & others)

Phillips foot has a good beer garden (cook yr own steaks), but AFAIK only VB on tap!

Lord Nelson Brewery is worth a visit too for some great beers. Not sure of the menu, it's supposed to be great though.

Um, the Belgian Heritage Bar isn't too far, if you';re loaded with cash for the day, and the wife is driving!

I would go for the auatralian too - pizza is pretty good there!!

I quite like the Lowenbrau - there are tables out the front which should be kid friendly and they had Franziskaner Hefe and Dunkel on tap last time I was there.

Agreed on the Australian... fairly fresh LCPA is enough to get you there.
And another worth checking out for historic reasons is the 'Hero of Waterloo' although probably not something the kids and missus will appreciate.. but non the less a great pub to sit and ponder over a pint.

This here be a link to the Hero of Waterloo

edit: linky

I vote Lowebrau or Australian - both had good food and have been kid friendly when I was there with the family.

SJW...
i could be at Lowenbrau on sunday afternoon, so if your planning on going there... keep me posted, we'll sneak a quick pint and a chat.
