I am looking at buying a SS stock pot but the person doesnt know the litres size.
The measurements the person gave me are "12" high x 14" "

Any person able to help me please??

Get him to fill it with water with a measuring jug or a 3-4 litre juice bottle before you buy it.

If you know the size in millimetres, you can work out the volume.
You need the diameter and the height, post it up and we'll work it out.

I assume that means 12inches high and 14inch diameter. Assuming these are inside dimensions that gives you 30L.

Probably not quite big enough for a full boil - I'd be wanting minimum 40L for single batches, and 70L for double batches

To work it out..

Its Pi x Dia (in metres) squared divided by 4 x the height (in metres) x 1000 gives you litres

so that makes it ((0.35 x 0.35) x 3.14159 / 4) x .3 x 1000 = 28.8 litres

edit: and thats full to the brim

I get 33L?

Pi * Diam* H
=(3.143x.35mx.3m)x100

or (3.143x35cmx30cm)/100

Edit - Just went to measure my 40L one, its 400 diam and 330 high.

So you 40L one is ((0.4) ^2x 3.14159 / 4) x .33 x 1000=41.47L
Pi*Diam will be the circumference.

I stand corrected! Seems Ive been out of school longer than i thought!
Or too many homebrews!

Area = Pi (3.141592) x R x height

Convert to metric, diameter 14" = 355.6 (R = 177.8) Height 12" = 304.8 (Convert inch to mm x by 25.4)

3.141592 x (177.8) x 304.8 = 30271103.87 / by 1000 = 30271.10387ml / by 1000 = 30.27110387 litres

Easy as that....
