Hi, how about storing it in the roof cavity of your house? Just seal it up in some garbage bags or similar. Out of sight, out of mind. Easy access when you need it again. ;)

I simply don't have the time anymore...as my kid gets older he's requiring more and more of my time...once he gets even older, maybe then I can get back into it.

But, for now it's time to temporarily quit AG :(

What I have isn't very complicated or special-looking, but it makes great beer.

Here's what I've got:

50L SS Kettle with ball valve, barbed hose fitting & lid,
2300W HotCo Immersion element,
Insulated pail-type Mash tun with SS false bottom,
MashMaster SS bi-metal thermometer,
5x Cleaned & sanitised food grade no-chilling cubes,
Various lengths of silicon hose,
Hop Sock,
Big pot for use as HLT (element or stove-top use) (20-30L?),
A couple of smaller pots (10-15L?) for "just-in-case" extra sparge water heating.

This is all you need to make some great AG beer.

If I do sell it, I'll also include 5kg of cracked JW Pilsener Malt, 500g cracked Maltcraft Light Crystal, some Whirlfloc tablets and your choice of hops from my varied stocks to get you brewing that first AG in no time :)
So, yeah...I'm not sure if I really do want to sell...just want to gauge any possible interest out there first.

BTW, I'm in Canberra.

you will be sooooooooooorrrrrrry,
sleep less ,
brew in bigger batches NC cube and store when you get the time to ferment .
I see a need here for Councelling !!!

Pumpy :)

Blake..take up steves offer to 'store' it for you..if he unwraps it, make sure he does a cube for you too

You just need to find time to brew. I have 4 kids, three of them under 5. I even brewed when I had 2yr old twins and a newborn. Just means you think differently, like doing a brew after they go to bed on a Friday night etc.
You'll never get back in $ what you put in.

I would go for the storage. A few people have offered to help out in that area.

That means when you find you do have time all you have to do is get your gear back. That will be easier than trying to purchase it all again.

Or let someone use it, charge a cube a month... still get to keep your gear and get beer too!

Ok, I'm sold...storage it is.

I guess under the house will work, just wrap it all up in heaps of garbage bags.

Just to clarify, it was indeed easier to brew when the little fella was younger...you guys with little ones will get the shock of your lives if even one of your kids grows up to be like mine at 10yo...transport is EVERYTHING with his sport!  B)

Anyway, I wasn't sure if I should sell up and kinda' glad to hear what everyone had to say...thanks for setting me straight folks...oh and Steve, I've still got one on tap you must try, so keep in touch :)

Funny that...he's got about 6 bikes...that's actually the problem!

He isn't old enough to roll across town/interstate to all the joints where he rides by himself, so I end up driving

Blake, Steve's offer is good here too. I can hide it here for you to reclaim any time you need. You could even pop over every now and then to check on it if you wanted (Just don't drive home  )

Fester.

fingerlickn,

it sucks for you to give up your AG gear but..... depending on what your asking for it i might be tempted to make the 12 hour round trip drive up to ACT from Melb and take it off your hands. I want to go AG and am time poor to build my own.

PM me if you decide to sell

Good lad , sanity has prevaled :beerbang:

Blake - can I have my false bottom back :icon_chickcheers:

Cheers
Steve

oh, and my mates like my AG brews too much...6 hours of brewing (plus weeks of fermenting, etc) down the hatch in a number of hours...

Sorry to bring up an old thread Blake, but why don't you have said friends brew for you with your gear now? Sounds like a fair trade to me... if there's a few of them, they could take it in turns to brew. Just a crazy idea!

Didn't even read past the first page, but thanks for the encouragement guys! :)

BUT, if you read my revised first post in this thread you'll see I now must sell...a run-in with the powers that be has really put me under financial strain!

I hate watching brewers sell up,reminds me of family fighting over the will.

Best of luck mate, and may the force return B)

DONT SELL IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and i had TWINS! thats the equivelant of 4 times more work than one at a time....... it was bloody hard. There was no break for either of us.... they both woke up hungry toghther so we couldnt take it in turns to sleep. I would work all day, get 2 hrs sleep and get called to work to fix something, get home at 3 am, turn on the tv, get the babbies and feed them and fall asleep on the lounge watching the live nascar races on ESPN. The wife would wake me up when the sun came up with 2 sleeping kids on the lounge with me and i would go back to work again. It was a tough time.

Then just as they turned 2 and were starting to be easier to get along with...... another time waster came along. So that was 3 under 3!!!!!!!!

I worked full time..... was on call for work for after hrs breakdown and still managed to do a batch when i needed. The kids were my driving force to go the kegs so i didnt have to bottle, cause i just didnt have time.

Mate........ hats off to you for picking your kids over your hobby...... its a good choice, but time can be found.

One other thing is that in seemingly no time at all the kids will be older and will want to help you brew...... my twins are 4 now and the little one is almost 2, and they come to the garage to make "daddy's juice" or Beeeeeeeeeeer as they call it, with me on a weekend.

Store it! cause in time you will have time again and you will kick yourself for getting rid of your gear.

Brewing gear doesnt go off.... it just gathers dust, and dust can be wiped off.

cheers

Cheers for the reply Tony, but it's now become all about the money...I'm selling my possessions all over the place :(

No worries though, as I've got two spare un-converted 50L pots (the most expensive & hard to find bits) stashed away for when I can eventually start up again ;)

PZ.

Do you still want to sell it all together? or would you consider splitting it up?
