Hi all, got a price on one of these today, less than $400 delivered to hobart seemed very reasonable, any disadvantages, obviously stainless has a mountain of advantages but i ferment in plastic now with nothing bad happening yet!....

ive posted in another thread about finding this company who makes these killer conicals in america. im thinkin of tryin to organise a bulk buy through my LHBS. dont know hoa to add links, so look up
minibrew.com
they make various sizes and look the goods
cheers,dan

The minibrew ones always struck me as being fairly pricey, though with the Aussie dollar hunting down the greenback, maybe not so bad. I still can't justify it as I don't harvest yeast and don't think a conical would persuade me to.
Though for those interested in a cheaper (dodgier ?) option. http://www.plastic-mart.com/class.php?item=135

$300 US ($330 AU) including post, may as well get the 100L for $400 and support local business... well... more local than the US anyway :p

A mate of mine went to the Great American Beer Festival the other day.. This was on hand:

The guy who made them was demonstrating/selling them, etc.

details here.

No affiliation. $149 Canadian Dollar is AUD$168.92, not including shipping.

Nice little unit, though. I like the extreme angle of conical. Looks like it would work a treat. I guess you'd want to use a glass wine thief to pull samples from the top, or assuming you've dropped your yeast, could pull samples from the bottom into a secondary collection capsule.

From memory Grain and Grape stock them for around $250.

Any idea what the volume of this thing is? The website curiously doesn't say anything about this thing's volume.

No idea on volume. Bit goofy that it's not displayed on their website, eh?

Cheers Warren on the G&G headsup. I don't reckon I'll be switching over from glass any time soon, however B) .

If I did upgrade, I reckon it would be a SS Conical, but hell, I've got 489 other things I need first.

my only problem is that i dont yet have a spare fridge or the need to make 100L brews. i realise you dont have to fill the whole thing up but it would be hard not too :p

I believe these are made to be mounted on a wall, so you'd probably need to construct a frame of some description in order to use it in conjunction with a brewfridge.

Also, from memory, I think they only hold about 20 L.

Cheers,
Michael. :)

Guys, its only 23 litres (6 gallons), not bad if you only ever do single mashes when i normally do a double batch.... and there $260 not including delivery, the rota moulding is looking ok for the price at 4 times the volume for only 400 bucks delivered...and there coming from WA to Hobart....

I haven't heard a lot of negativity about them yet!....

Maybe i should start marketing for them....JUST JOKING!!!!..i have no affiliation WHATSOEVER!!!!
