So..I have an infection in FB that has come thru my phone. Now I only use FB on my my phone, I know this because I have only used FB thru my phone.

Now its interesting. My Birthday was today....and strangley I got a message from someone who I have not communicted with for some time. Now they seemed to know a bit about me, but when presed...the answers are rather vague. The standard " i am in xxx" xx being a googled town with a pop of zero...basically a place name.

Now I am some what savvy with regard to internet security but this one has got me

My ph@ne is a samsung galaxy ace.

This one has got me.

Guys anything would help

I once started to register for Facebook. As soon as I typed in my name a photo of my Brother in the UK whom I haven't seen since 2000 appeared in the side bar. I freaked and didn't go any further and have never been a member of Spybook.

However I clearly didn't back track quick enough and still get emails every day "Facebook, do you know Fred Smith, Alice Twaddle and ten others" **** spam messages (they go straight into spam).

Stu, you may remember a few years ago I easily obtained a photo of you online, handsome rugged young chap that you are, that you had submitted to Spybook, just to prove a point at that time. I wouldn't touch it again with a forty foot barge pole.

Oh and happy birthday, :beerbang: have a real ale or six

Edit: according to this guy, if you stick to apps downloaded from Google Play Store or Amazon you will be fairly safe from malaware, as they keep an eagle eye on their "stock" but Android anti virus software is pretty useless. Did you get some apps from other sources maybe? Some nasty Chinese ones going around apparently.

There's a flappy bird ripoff on Google Play that installs a bit of spyware/malware
You didn't download that did you?

You didn't show that signature to your phone did you?

If you haven't installed any Fb apps,it well might be an app a friend has installed. Most ppl don't even look at what permissions an app asks for when they download it.Some ask for the right to post in your name and even send pm's as well.Bloody idiots who don't look damn hard are leaving all their friends open to trouble. The pm from a long lost friend seems a bit dodgy though, that's not typical app stuff. If you're sure the person isn't who they say they are,any chance you can pm me the FB linky? I'd like to suss it out a little further.

My Aldi App has permission to take photos. Maybe it only does that when I'm in Woolworths or Coles.

Sounds like generic Facebook spam to me, or a random old acquaintance being random, not an "infection".

Always treat your webcam as live. It is easy to switch off the light and still view. Aledgelly.

There are peeps trying to scam on faceache at the moment, Stu. My mother in law had her account hacked twice. Second time happened yesterday and she was messaging one of her friends when her friend asked her why she had been earlier telling her about a massive inheritance that she was going to share with her. Anyway, turns out they are creating false accounts and scamming this way now.
