Hi guys, I over shot my OG on a partial grain brew tonight hit 1052 but needed 1032-1034. How do I calculate how much extra water I need to bring the brew down within range? Any links to online calculators to work this out.

Thats quite an overshoot, before you adjust, check that everything is adequately mixed, and at room temperature before testing. Assuming your hydrometer is properly calibrated, extra volume can be calculated as below...

------

Well, water has a density of 1000kg/m^3

You want:

(Current Volume)*1052+(Extra Volume)*1000=(Current Volume + Extra Volume)*1033

Rearranging:

(Extra Volume)=(19/33)*(Current Volume)

------

To, take your current volume, multiply it by 19, then divide by 33, and add that amount of water to get your brew to approximately 1033kg/m^3 = SG 1.033

Or you can use Promash or Beersmith, probably even google a solution.
But as Adam has mentioned, sounds like your hydrometer is out of whack, or you missed a number when working out your potential.

Did you try to take another sample as sometimes malt seems to get stuck in the tap and the first one is quite high. (Thats assuming you use lquid malt).
